AMS 997.2 IC's installed. PICS

I don't care what anyone says. These IC's are the best on the market bar none. Best fitting, best quality, best performing. The install was easy and it included everything little thing to make installation simple. You get what you pay for, and while these aren't the cheapest they are the best.

Sorry I'm an AMS nut hugger. Ever since the Alpha 12 GTR I know how great their products are.

Looking good Changster, any write up on the performance edge over other AM intercoolers?

Definitely not THE best intercoolers out there, maybe one of. The best intercoolers are on Andrew Mckees Viper. When you run a viper that makes 2300whp with normal intercoolers and your temps are just as good as air to water then you have the best out there.

Congrats on the intercoolers though!

What's up Anthony!! Well there you go... that must be space age stuff for an A2A to be able to keep IAT's as low as A2W's. I've never seen any A2A's come close to A2W's especially with ice water.

Yeah very very expensive cores! NASA stuff. Car took second in rwd class at TI last two TI's.

for what it's worth i have tried 997.2 ICS, EvoMS, Forge and ETS as well as AMS. Out of the ones I tried AMS are the best and that is what I am currently using and having no plans to change that

different car, different price point, different hp goals.

when it comes to ICs the sky is the limit ( subtle NASA reference there ) just like anything else.

out off the shelf A2A IC kits i would say these are the best on the market. i haven't tried all of them but i have tried a lot

Agree with what Mark said. I don't think changster was saying these are the end all/be all but these are great intercoolers for off the shelf/bolt on. I have tested the OEM ones and a different aftermarket brand and these have performed the best for me, more specifically before I was running methanol.

Appreciate your evaluation and always respect what you do, however didn't you try these on a 997.1? OP has a 997.2.

Hey Chris. I see a few 60-130's posted on 997.2's and when you see the details they are at night with cool conditions.

The true test of how good an intercooler is in my opinion is whether you can run record and consistent times in the heat of the day on a flat slope no meth.

Case in point at Shift Sector couple years ago on a very warm day: 80 degrees F at 2pm on a black tarmac that was 150+ degrees and a flat slope I pulled a 6.4 60-130 with just basic bolt ons - filter, y pipe, plenum, GIAC tune, BBI catted exhaust and of course the Champion intercoolers. This was well before I got meth. Actually this was the same day IPD Mike put on his Y pipe with BBI and Cobb present.

I have also done track days at over 100 degrees F with no fall off on power. On vBox and speedo....first lap or after 10+ laps and 25 minutes, my speed going through the start/finish is the same.

Can any other intercooler do this? Maybe I don't know I haven't tried every intercooler. But until another 997.2 can pull my accel times on a hot day no slope, nothing beats the Champion intercoolers.

997.1 and 997.2 dimensions are the same.

Their intercoolers are CAD designed and tested/proven in their Alpha 9 and Alpha 10 997.1's. It comes with a cast Y pipe, CF shrouds, and a 5.5" core. The fit and finish is second to none.

I know you love Champion, and I'm sure they are great. But I have no doubt the AMS IC's are better. Don't worry though, I know this is just my opinion and it doesn't mean anything.

The way AMS is run as a company is unlike 99.9% of the tuner shops out there. Their resources in the R&D/design process is much better than anyone I've seen in an aftermarket shop.

actually i tried most of them on my 996tt. however it was making more HP than most people ever do so im not sure how a .2 is much different. on my 997tt i skipped the hype and went for AMS right away for the following reasons:
- end tank design and size
- retention of air ducting system with a large core ( thinking ahead to big boy setup)
- quality core
- overall kit completeness and fitment, fit and finish

results were consistent 2 mph increase in 1/4 traps on a stock car that just had a flash. since then i have installed a standalone and have a ton of logs from dyno and street. the AMS intercoolers do a fantastic job.

as a side note - give that you car has meth now, your intercoolers really dont matter much. meth does all the work anyway. you want the most free flowing core possible regardless of cooling on a meth car.

Yeah I did the meth well after I got intercoolers as sort of a Band-Aid to the pathetic fuel system on the 997.2. Considering taking it off now since I have a fuel system capable of 800 wheel on e85. And I want to put the meth system on my 991 as I just started the mod process on that car.
