First, hello from a guy who lurked many years ago on this Forum but ended up owning a couple Corvettes before making my way to Porsche. I look forward to learning a lot from the knowledgeable people on this Board.


I purchased a 2008 black on black cab with 26,000 miles on Saturday conditioned on a favorable independent PPI. PPI came back today very positive but with additional info. I recognized on the test drive that the car had an aftermarket exhaust, but PPI revealed: Fabspeed muffler and cats, TechArt headers, and an undescribed "tune" except that it was a "conservative" tune. The guy that did the PPI estimated an additional 75-100 hp gain over stock.


Can anybody tell me exactly what TechArt package this might be and is the hp estimate by the PPI correct? What do I have here??

 

Did PPI include a compression and leak down test on the engine? Did you check the DME report for any over revs (if manual)? Buying a car that someone has already fondled might come with some gremlins.

 

DME report showed no activity in ranges 3-6. Technician described the report as normal for auto trans. No mention of compression or leak-down, only his assessment of the mechanical condition as 10/10. I will receive the written report later today. The tech is familiar with the car and the previous owner.

 

10/10 ..... That better be one heck of a car.... usually always something that needs attention ..
