Technical help needed - Fault Code P1257

hello Guys,

a little of history and background, I have a 2007 997 turbo with 63.5mm VTGs, Proto IC, Proto TCU, Proto ECU, and FVD Cat bypass exhaust.

all of a sudden, Car was not pushing beyond 0.4 bar of boost and I was getting a bad actuator fault code. I happened to have my stock VTG turbos laying around so I swapped the bad actuator with one from my stock turbos.

car was up and running fine for a couple of days and suddenly the problem came back. car will not push beyond 0.4 bar but now with fault code P1257 (boost pressure adjustment range adjustment unit b2)

I tried to search for it with no luck,

any help is appreciated guys

Most likely a boost leak. Smoke system or pressure test to see if had a leak. Gotta start there.

mrkout,

Did you figure out what the issue was with your P1257 fault code? I'm running a 997.1tt with GT2 turbos, GMG headers/exhaust, GMG IC's, and GIAC tune. I'm intermittently going into "safe mode" where the car won't boost more than than 0.4 bar and also getting code P1257 on my Durametric software for bank 2. No other codes are being tripped. Did you figure out your issue? My car otherwise runs great. I'm assuming the P1257 (boost pressure adjustment range adjustment unit b2) is related to the turbo actuator unit for the VGT. Any insight would be helpful with what you eventually found.

If anyone reading this has any information related to the P1257 code, please chime in-

Thanks in advance!

Keith

Man that was a long long time ago, lol.

My 997.1TT now has Alpha 3071 turbos

Anyways, the code was again for a bad turbo actuator. Apparently the other actuator i used had only a couple of life-days left and it went bad shortly after.
I swaped the actuators again and all was fine.

Hope this helps bud

This helps- Thank you! I suspected a bad actuator. Where you able to swap out the actuators with the turbo in the car, or did the turbo need to come out? Thank you so much again for your time.

It depends on which side is bad.

I for got which side is which, but On one side the actuator is on the bottom side so you can access it easy with turbo is on the car.
On the other side, the actuator is on the top of the turbo, so turbo needs to be off.
