997.1 TT Appreciating
Prices have gone up in central Europe. No question about it. I have mobile.de send me e-mail when ever a new car is listed for sale. I was in the market for a 997.1 turbo exactly year ago. So prices can be compared. Cars with same mileage are +10.000 euros more expensive than year ago. Especially manuals. This is the cheapest end of manual transmission cars under 70.000 km right now.
I thought I paid too much a year ago but wanted the car with all the options it has. Adaptive seats, sport steering wheel, PCCB, 54.000 km and sport exhaust. Now I feel I paid exactly right.

My 2007 997.1 has the XM built in....?
Must not be PCM2 then since I thought the XM option was first offered in 2009 as part of PCM3...or you have an aftermarket XM like NavTV??
This is a Porsche unit - unless the previous owner installed a PCM3, which is quite possible I guess.
Or at that time some folks were spending big $'s and retrofitting the Cayenne PCM2 headhunt that had XM capability. Great that you have it.
I feel that the 997.1 cars with the 6 speed trans are going to hold their value. The cabriolet version, in my opinion even more so. I purchased my turbo cab to drive on nice days, preferably with the top down. I have no intention to daily drive it, and I am going to keep it bone stock. To me, the 997.1 series car is more of a sports car, with the current 911 turbo being more of a GT car.
I come from an era that felt that sports cars were supposed to have a manual transmission, and I feel that way also. There is just something about driving my car, and working the clutch pedal, along with the shift lever, that just feels right. The top being down and the wind rushing through my hair is an added plus. People ask me , how do I like my 911, and my usual reply is about how much fun it is to drive it. Maybe the best way to describe these vehicles, is to get in and drive one. The car will do the talking.
One final comment, I read about the newer PCM in the '09 turbo's being possibly a big change. If I really want to get directed to my destination, I simply use the gps in my android Phone and it does a pretty fair job. But usually when I take the turbo out for a ride, I am more interested in the drive, than where I am going.

Great post!
Who uses any Porsche GPS today anyways?
I use Waze or Twist in conjunction with Tranzit. Now, Bluetooth or wifi screen integration would be very nice on either model.
Carplay unit's may have the answer for our Gen but, I prefer to just drive and use Trazitblu for a $150 fix.
I had the PCM2 in my C4S and now have the PCM3 in my '09 TT. To me, it is a LOT more than just upgraded nav (which I never use). The PCM3 unit has much friendlier touch-screen functionality, including for telephone use. And I believe the audio sound (and amplification) is far superior to the previous edition PCM2. I am happy to turn up the PCM3 unit when I'm cruising w/ the top town in the TT cab, where as my C4S cab and PCM2 unit sounded worse when pushed in volume. Overall, the console unit looks better, sounds better and all-round works better.
Now having said all that, I don't want to undermine the viewpoint of the '07 to '08 TT owners. The rest of the 9971. TT more than makes up for any PCM differentials, and all units are fine to own and drive.

Obviously the prices for these and other sports cars like them drop in the winter as half the country is unable to use them in the snow and cold and the dealership would prefer to sell them rather than sit on them for 4-5 months...
I always wondered about this. Why does it seem like appreciation conversations are centered around the coupes? The cabriolets were produced in even lower numbers, so a MT 997.1TT is even more rare than a coupe. The 993 turbo was never offered as a cab, and the 996 generation overall was generally unloved (which seemed to unfairly bleed over into the turbos as well despite notable differences), so there does not seem to be a lot of historical data to hypothesize around or extrapolate from. Is there a reason people seem to focus on the coupes?
