TPMS Sensors

All 4 of my TPMS Sensors are dead. Have my car in at the Dealer for Plugs & Coils and asked for a price on replacing the Tire Pressure Sensors. They quoted me $1800 for them. Im shocked to say the least. I asked if they came with new tires...Service Advisor laughed. lol

What's the alternative? I know their has to be something more realistic.

$1800 for just the TPMS/install is hilarious.

People typically have good results with aftermarket ones for $130/set:

Talk to Discount Tire. Good prices and customer service is tops.

also ck out tire rack- i got tpms from them last time i bought tires & they were $350 or so for 4 OEM brand- (can't recall brand)- i haven't had any issues at all with them.

OP, I see you are in Clearwater. I bought a set of aftermarket ones from a place in Sarasota when I was down there on vacation. They have worked fine for the last 2 or 3 years. I paid $180US for the set. Worth changing them out every 2 to 3 years when tires get changed...

I can look up the name of the place if you are interested.

If the dealership is owned by Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby that explains a lot! Contact Tire Rack or Pelican Parts.

I went with Tirerack. Great price and 6 years later and they are still working!

Does anyone know if you can turn the TPMS off in the ECU?

I don't think so, liability issue.

I have seen the TPMS sensors coded off in the ecu on a friends car and remember seeing a thread on the forum regarding the topic. If memory serves you have to unplug the receiver and re code.

I have an air compressor and 2 tire pressure gauges, so I had my indie turn the tpms off with the durametric. Three years now and no problems; no regrets.

Thanks for the help guys! Purchased a set on TireRack for $300 and dropped them off at the dealer. They ended up charging me $45 a tire to install. They said it took several attempts to program but they work perfectly fine.

negb 04-27-2018 06:55 PM

So even new OEM TPMS'es needs to be programmed after installation ????

EDIT: found answer already :) https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...3055-tpms.html
