**NEW** Cobalt Blue 997TT Pics!
Was just at my dealer specing out a 997TT and I was surprised to hear that despite what we have seen in this forum, Porsche themselves are not so hot on the Cobalt blue. The first pics on this forum are definitely doctored. The pic above is very close.
Porsche's issue is it looks too much like the blue offered by Subaru or Mits. Not that they are bad cars (they are awesome cars for the money), but Porsche wants their owners' cars to stand out and not to be mistaken for something else. Imagine how you would feel pulling up in a gas station or a parking lot and someone asks you "is that the new Mits?" or "is that the new Subby?"..."nice!"
They anticipate the "hot" colours will be one of the grey/silver variations (like always), basalt metallic black (basic black has no clearcoat from the factory (!) and scratches too easily), and red is making a comeback. They figure the most popular "blue" colour will be midnight blue. Interestingly yellow is on it's way out which surprises me. I don't know if anyone has noticed this but have you ever noticed how many bugs like yellow when it is sitting still. A friend of mine had a yellow truck and on a hot summer day it was covered in thousands of bugs...they must have thought it was a giant flower! For customers who want something different they anticipate white may be the colour of choice. They don't expect to sell many cobalt blues...but they have been wrong before!
