Can't adjust volume

Just did a major service at Porsche. Noticed when I got home that I can no longer adjust the volume...ie turning thr **** does nothing. Source or phone call doesn't matter. At first pushing in wouldn't mute but that seems to have returned. Also when I brought it home the radio stayed on after I shut off the car and exited. All doors were closed. I happened to walk by and saw it was still on hours later. The display said key 1 in the dash but there was no key in the car. The only way I could get the radio to turn off was to lock the car with the key. Of course the next morning the battery was drained and I had to jump it.

Any ideas?

Hi,

First of all check for error messages with PIWIS or other tool.
Did Porsche do some maintenance or repair in the PCM area?

Regards
Hans

They shouldn't have been near the PCM. I'll have to bring it back to the dealership as I don't have any tools. Just really weird. It's still not working.

This is so weird. If I don't lock the car at night, I walk out to the radio being on despite it turned off when I leave the car. The illuminated pcm buttons are also intermittently working at night. What type of crazy gremlins do I have? I'd love to upgrade to the newly announced pcm classic radio but it's only for up to 996 models.

Have you tried resetting the ECU yet? Disconnect the negative battery lead for about 10 minutes, then reconnect. Start the car and go for a short drive to start the ECU learning again (when you can). If it was the brain causing the radio to misbehave, then a reset might affect it.

I do not recall any negatives in doing this, but others might have experiences they wish to relay.

So my PCM is drawing too much juice. It needs to be replaced. The dealership is suggesting I go aftermarket. Honestly I think it would take away from the interior.

With a turbo s - are there any functions with respect to sports chrono or anything else that I would miss from the pcm 3.0 if I went aftermarket?

Anyone know where I can pick up a used but fully functional pcm 3.0?
