Hi,

I've noticed rattling sound during the startup with my 997.1 Turbo (122,000 km). It last about 2-3 seconds.

I've heard and read about similar things from other Turbo owners as well, but what's your opinion – is the sound normal, and is there any reason to be concerned?

Plenty of people have replaced that oring with no change in startup rattle.

 

the video is no longer available it says, so I haven't been able to hear the rattle in question.
but I have had a random start-up rattle for a little while now and i can confirm, have changed little o-ring multiple times, even replaced the cap once and no change in random start-up rattle and 1-2seconds of the gauge reading 0 oil pressure. it's not always and it's not predictable. sometimes car sits a couple days and starts without rattle, other times it sits for a few hours and has startup rattle. planning an engine out soon for other maintenance items and I'm thinking I should replace all the chain guides and tensioners while it's out. anyone actually cured the random start-up rattle and if so what was replaced? engine oil brand has had zero effect on random start-up rattle as well.
