Chrono Package needed for overboost functionality?

I am still not clear if a car needs to have the chrono package to have the overboost functionality.

None of the articles linked here are giving any clear and trustworthy guidance. Plus you never know if these reporters are just writing what they saw in another mag.

The recent Autoweek article did not mention that you need to have a Chrono Package for overboost.

In the order guide Overboost is not mentioned as a feature of the Chrono Package.

Thanks,

1200 bucks for chrono is otherwise a waste of $$$.

Wouldnt a $500 boost controller do the same trick more or less?
