FYI - 997TT launch / drag event

Anyone see this post on rennlist?

http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...=284481&page=1

Attendees will be invited to test their own Porsche performance against the New 997 Turbo’s statistical speed performance benchmarks on a 1/4 mile timed run.

After reading the event description a second time, I think the 997TT is just for viewing and attendees will be racing to see how they compare to the 997TT's "published 1/4 mile specs". It would be nice if someone with a broken in 997TT could attend to show what these new turbos can actually do..........

Mussel,

There are a lot of track oriented Porsche owners that do not like the idea or do not see the point of 1/4 mile racing, but I think this would be an interesting comparison and a lot of fun. One of the problems is there are not a lot of Porsches in NH, especially 996tt's and 997tt's. But if some MA., ME. or even CT. Porsche owners attended, it could increase the variety and be a great time. We'll see how it develops - hopefully it won't rain. I am still waiting for a reply to the email I sent to Ed Lannon regarding the event.

I spoke to Ed today and he said they are expecting 30-50 owners, although all may not run the 1/4.

I would love to bring the SL55 K2 and see how it does against the 997TTs. Does anybody know if that would be possible? For damn sure, it will out sound the 997TTs.

I will try to attend, depending on how my week shakes out, and also the weather. Its not a bad haul from SE Mass, and I need the breakin miles (unless I bring the K2)
