Quick question: Black or Atlas grey?????
i love my atlas. if i was buying the car again i would choose the same color. i agree with others in that it tends to take on different personalities in the full sun or grey overcast days. it is a dark color, darker than i thought it would be the first time i saw it in person but thats what i like about it without it being black. don't get me wrong, a porsche in black is very sweet, i just like the unique aspects of the atlas. my vote: atlas.
My Black 997TT is a PITA to keep clean. much more so than my Guards Red 993C2. However, with black the 997TT looks lower and more aggressive because all the skirts blend in well (they are black) without the need for painting. As others have mentioned a black 997TT looks awesome when clean and the Red calipers really stand out. I detail my cars myself so don't mind the extra effort. Here in Florida (lots of rain) you need to wash black once a week, so one of my Sat morning chores is washing the 997TT.
Another note, if you decide on black with the standard brakes (Red calipers) and black interior as I have, seriously consider Red seat belts....really looks nice with the Red calipers, black interior and exterior. The black also accents the aluminium silver interior trim.
I'm sure whatever you decide you will be happy, I certainly am. Only complaint is the muffled exhaust note which can be easily corrected with the aftermarket exhausts offered by AWR and others (Tubi, Fabspeed). I will probably upgrading my exhaust soon.
Good luck,
Mike

I currently have a 996 Turbo in Artic so I wanted to change to a dark color. Any help is appreciated!
Atlas is "black" at night. It is metallic blue during a clear day. And it is grey sunrise, sunset, or during cloudy days.
My Atlas shows dirt the day after I wash it (just like black).
Atlas looks great when washed....but nothing is more stunning than a clean black.
Atlas will probably hide the swirls a bit better than black.
Atlas is definitely more of a conversation piece than black...people always stop me to comment on the color.
For your peace of mind...I guarantee that whatever color you select you will be very happy.

If you dont plan to pamper it go for basalt. My 997tt is solid black but I enjoy the looking after. My basalt black Cayenne tt takes no maintenance at all but still looks good after a wash. Not quite as good as the solid black but pretty good. Atlas according to my dealer is as hard as solid black to keep looking good but over to those that own it to confirm or dispel this!

Consider Slate Grey Metallic. The color in very easy to maintain and it doesn't show dirt at all, and we live on the east coast.

My vote is Atlas because it's not that common, however it will still be a high maintenance color to keep clean.
