Quick question: Black or Atlas grey?????
I have to finalize my order in a couple of days and I am torn between Black and Atlas Grey. Black is the current color on the order but on the fence with changing to Atlas. I have not seen an Atlas in person so I am asking those who have seen or own this color. Black is perfection when clean but unfortunately I don't have the time to baby it. I currently have a 996 Turbo in Artic so I wanted to change to a dark color. Any help is appreciated!

Go for meteor grey. would be much less work to maintain than black/atlas grey. One of the most beautiful colors for the 997TT out there. Meteor grey is also a no charge color too. Slate grey is extra charge and is a bit darker.

I have Atlas and love it. It is more blue than grey. But very dark, almost black. It is so dark that I don't think that it is easier to keep clean than pure black. If you are stuck on black, go for black. Atlas will not show less dirt.
Hope this helps. |
Atlas or Meteor IMO, no black!

Atlas is a beautiful color changing depending on the lighting from a dark blue-grey to nearly black. It'll be easier to keep clean than flat black, but not much easier than basalt black since basalt is a metallic paint. I had a basalt black CTT that was awesome. But, I really love the 997TT in atlas....or cobalt.

I think Black is the best looking color on the 997TT if it were clean all the time. Otherwise, Atlas would be a more practical color.

I gave serous consideration to Atlas but in the end Basalt got the order and I have no regrets. Either one will require work to maintain.
Here's mine. http://www.diazo.com/tony/photos/997-TT2.jpg |
Is Basalt Black just a metallic Black? All my local dealerships are very low on inventory which makes a color decision very difficult. I have a detailer who services my office every friday but is not very meticulous and I would not let him touch a black turbo. Do you guys clean your own vehicles or just take it to your local car wash?
|
between the 2, i would get black with sand beige interior. i have a guards red turbo-i just take it to hand car wash, and in 5 minutes, it is clean. i am not obsessed with detailing it, but i can certainly understand why someone would really get into washing and waxing it.

Go with Basalt; its a metallic black (with dark grey specs). Its easier to care for than straight black. (mine is basalt ^)
As for interior .. I suggest two-tone Terracotta black. |
Of the two, I vote for Atlas. It's a great color.

I love black cars, but if you already know you wont baby it, I might refrain from recommending it. Basalt or Atlas would be wise, otherwise Meteor which still stay clean longest.

Anything but straight black! Having had many black cars, I can tell you without a doubt, my Obsidian Black (metallic black) GL is 20x easier to maintain than straight black. The swirls are a lot less obvious and I have not even waxed it once in 5 months/10k miles. On the other hand, I had to wax/polish out the swirls on my triple black cab every 2-3 months or so.

I love my atlas, looks different depending on the sun's reflection. I thought about black, but decided it was too common.
