That being said, when I find a talented mounter, I stick with the guy. Lately, I have with great fear endeavored to find someone trustworthy enough to mount the nightmare of all tires - 19" with 30 aspect sidewalls, TPMS sensors, and reverse mount specifications. Even with 17's, most mounters I have seen work with the finesse of a Meth tweaker trying to pinch out an 18# bowling ball covered with glass shards.

The past month I have found a guy that can slip the tires on and off with the ease of a veteran **** queen working a half-sized *****. So far, the guy has de-mounted and mounted no less than 2 sets of 19's for me, with nary 1 scratch. Better yet, he is the manager of a new store with brand new equipment that isn't jacked up yet. The store also has almost no business yet since it has been open only 1 week. Look for John at Discount Tire at West Rd and I-45N. The guy just rocks.
Sorry for the necro, but is this still the rec'ed tire installer in Houston?

If not, looking for a recommendation. I need to replace my TPMS sensors.

Thanks!
Nels

The first time I asked him if anyone was able to flip a 19" tire without messing anything up, he brought me back to machine and let me watch the whole process.
I agree that Discount Tires is great to work with. The machine they use is one specially designed for Discount Tire. I know someone who is an owner, and he advised me of that fact. Luckily, they have mounted a host of hard-to-mount tires for me, and so for, not a scratch!

+1 on Discount Tire. Here in North GA, they mounted new Hankooks on the rare 18" speedlines on my '94 3.6 turbo. Their best installer had me watch every move, and when the job was finished, (flawlessly) he even went out of his way to thank me for my business - a great touch that most businesses don't practice.

I have had positive experience with the service department at Porsche North Houston. They replaced/installed new TPMS sensors for me last year. Certainly not the least expensive option but it's where I feel comfortable having my vehicle serviced, and worth it to me.

I have used discount tires and it can be a crap shoot. I am looking for a shop that has someone who does this on a regular basis.

I've had all but one set done by Momentum. They just did my TPMS...no issues always done right. (Got sensors online) had last set of tires put on at Discount on HwY 6 south by Sienna Plantation.
