Please excuse my ignorance, but could you provide some explanation for these numbers and they correlate to the retail resale market. I'm about to take possession of a new 997TT in May and am interested to see how these vehicles are retaining their value. Thanks.

 

without the MSRP, its tough to use this for depreciation estimate, but it does provide sale prices based on car condition. prolly best used as a general indication of market health.

 

I also am expecting delivery in May for a TT. Unless you plan on "flipping" your car in a few months time, depreciation will have taken its ugly toll. Thats just part of ownership of the mighty "P" car. The first 2 years are the worst and then it will settle into year 3 and 4 (if you keep the car long enough). After 4 years expect the value to be between !/2 to 3/4 of original MSRP depending on how many TT's Porsche cranks out. So far they are doing a pretty good job supplying cars for the demand. Another factor will be how much the car gets "improved" come 2008 with HP increases and body style changes, the introduction of PDK....In other words it will be just like any other Turbo before it. I am in it for the long haul (thats what I always say) LOL! I'm finding out first hand with the sale of my 2005 997S. In the "old days" it was different but then again production numbers were much smaller and being a Porsche owner made you part of an exclusive group...........the downside to that was Porsche nearly filing for bankruptsy so its a tradeoff.........welcome to the club and enjoy your car! Many folks can only dream about driving one so I consider myself lucky.

 

Very few cars have good resale. Ferraris are the only one that I can think of if you can puchase it new and at MSRP. However I really do not like the dealer network that much and try to stay away.I use Manheim as a guide and it is a very accurate source. However with turbos it is impossible, the cars can sticker from the 120s up to the 160s.To help you I have a 997TT sticker 138 and I was thinking of trading it in on a Gallardo Spyder. The dealer offered me 128. This was about 3 weeks ago. I decided to keep the Turbo because it just rides so good!!!
