200 miles? I think mine had 3 on it. Did someone do a Ferris Bueller on your car at the dealership?

TT Information

I agree with Stephen, especially after a brief conversation with the dealer yesterday. This was a topic of conversation between the service manager and the GM concerning a car in the shop.

Hopefully for all of us that do have a 997TT this gets resolved going forward as well as everyone who owns one already.

slykmr, I'm sure the car will be perfect, and I have no doubt you will love it. There is a computer print out that stores overrevs (placed into two catergories of seriousness). Others on this board can explain it better than I can. I would make sure I saw this report before I bought.

Two more days! Enjoy.

I called my dealer in Melbourne,, they are new. They have no more information on why it could be delayed up to 2 weeks or how many addl miles will be placed on the car.

I told them to forego the quality control inspection on my ordered TT,, they said its up to Porsche,, they own the car and can basically do what they want.

At least I will know why the car has more then 10 miles on it when it comes off the truck.

thanks for the information to corroborate the dealers information.. I knew they wouldnt be BS'ng a turbo customer. They knew I would vette (no pun intended) this out and not take their word.

It is true, My car was delayed 9 days at Quality Check. I was informed that
it is a random check at the end of the production line.

Has anyone else noticed that the mileage on the trip is more than the odometer upon delivery? All my Porsches have come that way. The biggest difference was on my most recent purchase where the trip had 8 more miles on it than the odometer. So you really don't know how many miles the car has been driven.

I wonder and not to be paranoid,,, if when they pull a P car out for a quality review check if the speedo is connected yet. If this check entails a run on the autobahn it could put a number of miles on the car.

The mysteries of life.

i dont know if i see what the problem is, granted, i havnt got a turbo on order.

but surely if this is true, it has to be a good thing for you and your car, it means that there should, in theory be absolutly nothing wrong with your car, and should be amongts the best built TT's out there.

and i personally wouldnt want a car deliverd with only 3 miles on it. i would want the technicians to discover something wrong with the car, be it a rattle when at speed or a more serious discrepancy, than for myself to find out about it and have the car go back to porsche.

look at ferrari, they put their new cars through their paces on the road and track, driving them very very hard.

a few extra miles isnt going to do any harm, surely? especially for piece of mind.

There is no problem now...

The reason for the post was just to put my mind at ease abt this quality inspection that could delay my delivery by 2 weeks.

Now that I have information that there is such thing as a random check I am more than happy to have this complete 100% quality check on my car.

In fact when I sell it in a few years it will be a major selling point and I think it will add on another $2500!!! lol,, just kidding

All good things are worth waiting for. I am headed up to NYC in mid May so I wont expect this car until I come back at the end of May. Its going to be a fun summer here in Melbourne (Fl that is).

I'm curious, did you get your car? Mine completed production on 4/13 and did not leave the factory for the docks until 5/15, the dealer says that it was sitting in "upholstery" status for 4 weeks.....I didn't even get any special leather except for the thick steering wheel.

What a snafu.

My car was delayed maybe a week but I got it finally on friday.

I got the standard leather and its very nice,, stitched to perfection.

Maybe they had a run on the full leather option with the regular 997s causing a backup.

From the date of shipping figure about 20 days to get the car no matter what they say, that way you wont lose any sleep. Nothing seems to go 100% in life so figure there will be some hold up somewhere.

My car was delivered in impeccable condition as far as the body goes,,, but,, the wheels needed a lot of work.

The glue from the covers needs to be removed, inside the spokes is a lot of overspray that comes off with tedious waxing and rubbing with a nice 100% cotton towel. I have at least 8 hours into my wheels now and they look sparkling.

From my vette days I just love Blue Coral wax and today blue coraled my wheels, the spokes and inside covering every square inch. It will make it easier to get the brake dust off the wheels. Soon I will "rejex" the entire car and the wheels which will make it even better.

Keep me posted on your status and keep plugged into your dealer for up to date information.

I just purchased some Rejex from Eric (the plug guy) and I really am impressed with the stuff, Very easy to use and it seems to last much longer than wax. i also did my rims with it and the dust just blows right off with a hose. I like the fact that these stock rims have been painted grey inside because the wheels stay fresh looking as its harder to see the brake dust compared to my 997S's Carrera Classics.
