Turbo owners check in, esp. if you upgraded from 997S

Just the luck of the draw I guess. My 997S sunroof rattled like crazy, and that was after a visit to the dealer to have it fixed. The 99TT that I just test drove was completely solid and rattle free. I didn't check the mileage on it, but the dealership's owner has been driving it since delivery, and even drove it throughout the snowy winter.

Chris, I think these problems are specific to my car and have not heard many people complaining about this. The Turbo is Porsches "baby" and they do spend extra time making sure things are right (someone who works for Porsche told me this sometime back). The wait will be coming to and end and don't take my negative remarks to heart. I am real critical about my cars and I never was the type to accept everything as "great" when there were issues. The vibrating noises are only noticeable with the radio off and me listening for them BUT anyone would be able to tell and it would bother most of us who pay attention to these things. Good Luck and I await your photos. Cheers!

Okay, dug up this old thread of mine. I finally took delivery of my car today and drove it the 2 hours it took to get it home. I managed to stay at 4K rpm or below! Unbelievable!

I'm glad to say that any fears or concerns I had about making the switch are totally gone. There is not a single thing I miss about my C2S, not even the PSE. The '08 TT actually has a decently loud exhaust. I know people have wondered previously as to whether Porsche made a mid year change in the '07 model because of complaints about a tame exhaust. I've not heard an old one to compare with, but the 2008 seems pretty loud. My wife heard me from inside the house coming into the subdivision. For now anyway, the exhaust is perfect.

I had concerns about the clutch previously because of things I had read. The feel is great. It is fairly light, but not overly so, and has good feel. I probably still prefer the C2S clutch, but the TT clutch really doesn't have anything I can complain about. The steering feels fine to me. Some comments were made that it doesn't feel as direct as the C2S. I don't seem to notice it, but mind you, I got rid of the C2S a couple of months ago and have been driving my S4 since, so perhaps I've forgotten what it felt like. I really don't notice any turbo lag, but haven't had a chance to really get on it yet.

Overall, I think this is one of the finest cars you can buy right now. I'm not sure there is anything I would change about it. I even love the wheels in person (was not a fan from pics). I'm in love.

Oh, thanks to everyone above for their help. If anyone out there is contemplating this switch...DO IT!

I bought a 2006 z06 and really like it. I kept it a year traded for a 07 c4s. I have really enjoyed this car but miss the speed flash the Z gave me. I did not want to trade back to Chevy because of the really horrid treatment when My top separated. I have ordered an 08 turbo. My dealer has an 07 and let me drive it for a week (nice guy). The clutch was an issue for me for about three days. I didn't stall it like the c4s, but I jerked the car around a lot. I missed the PSE, and I think the turbo sound is a little too quiet. I am going to have something done about that. "they say" PSE will be available on cars ordered after Nov 07. As mine is a feb allocation, I may try for that. If not, the dealer will install Fabspeed for me at delivery.

The speed issue was self explanatory. The torque I missed was available again. I must say outside the speed and torque the turbo handled much like my C4S.

I am also ordering the ceramic brakes as I really liked them on my C4s.

I sold my own car but the dealer is not coming off the new 08 price. Still I can't wait.
