Still Cant get that Grin off my face!!!
So I thought I would drop this in... My best friend just picked up a 997 TT about 2-3 weeks ago and I had the chance to take it out for a spin last night... WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a 996 Cab as well and it felt like I was driving home in a Civic...
The funny thing is that the car feels very "normal" until about 3.5-4K RPMs and then 3-2-1 BLAST OFF!! Amazing... Just amazing...
The fit and finish of the interior on these cars is 1000% better than the 996...
At any rate, his car is silver with the terracotta interior... I would choose your Guards Red any day...
Very nice choice and enjoy!

Funny thing I took my 85 year old mom shopping on Friday in the Turbo. We drove about 10 miles each way between the stores and she thought it rode great. I never got the turbos on, it handled like a lamb with normal driving.
I told her the car has two personalities but she would never see its otherside.
I overheard her on her cell when we were driving telling her friend what a nice cushy comfy car I just purchased. Of course I never got it over 40 mph and she loved the leather seats and the new smell and all the buttons,, like an airplane she said!!! And the navigation really enamors everyone!!
I just realized (dah) in the car management system there is a digital turbo boost read out. Guess no gague just a number.. If I have Nav on I cant get the turbo boost numbers or CAN I?? I am learning things daily abt this marvel.

Don,
Beautiful red sportscar! You look like one happy man.
On the center dash dial (tach) you can get the boost in numeral or on a horizontal bar graph. When the NAV is on, you may need to toggle the tach display option (with the lower left pod) to show boost, miles to empty, tire pressure, etc. Just curl up some evening with your owner's manual and a nice beverage. Or, for more fun, just play around with everything and enjoy the delight of discovery. The whole package is kinda neat.

Thanks guys for your compliments.
Ken:
I ve finally figured out the navigation system,, how to put an address in, POIs, get maps, get directions beforehand, etc.
I have to do what you said, figure out the messages and data available below the tach.
I have seen the digital readout for psi on the boost but no graph. And I need to see how to get the nav on there and the boost or the boost graph. When driving its hard to figure it out and somethings only show when you are driving,, hmmmm,, funny.
My 993 was so uncomplicated, so easy to use,, NO engineering degree required!!! lol and no cup holders.
I will start sitting in the car and going thru this stuff. Of course every 10 mins or so the cars electronics turn off, even with the key in on accessory. Just wont stay on with the engine not running unless I am missing something.
thanks for the explanation!

Try plugging in a battery maintainer, that's what I do when I clean the car or engine. Of course, you live in FL and probably don't own one as you're able to drive it 12 months a year, unlike me
Don,
If you're going to be a Porsche spokesperson, you better know your stuff!
You're right about the battery saver turning everything off after a few minutes. The screen even says "Operation possible for short time with engine off"
Try blipping the computer lever up or down in sequence till you go through all the choices. You may need to specify units of boost pressure, but I think you'll get both numeric and bar graph either way. They are right next to each other in the sequence. Hey, I just figgerd out how to activate auto locking!! This is def more fun than a Dell.

I just spent an hr sitting in the car.
I can get the boost graph or the digital boost readout not both together.
And,, you cant get nav on that little screen and anything else.
I couldn't get to the locking options and the running light option anywhere. Maybe the engine has to be running to access those features. With the Sports Chrono Package you can do some customized settings but I need to get into that another time.
I agree, its fun learning this.

I agree! and the best part about these wheels (for those with the steel brakes) is how well they hold up to brake dust. The grey "inner" paint is what does the trick. My 997S with Carerra Classics would look dirty after 5-10 miles (I'm not joking either). On the TT all you need to do is wipe the face of the rims where its polished and it looks clean again.
