So you pulled the trigger again? Good for you. The dealer installed my OEM SSK and its works fine.

Cant wait to see your car in about 8 months....

Did you remember the dome light cover thisd time....

My dealer told me it was a dealer installed option - so they would have to install it at the dealership anyways. The B&M solution seems to be the better solution and from what I have been told there is no slicing and dicing during the installation. So I would most likely go with that route.

avi8tir...

Sorry I didnt think about talking to you about the sport shifter. I can get it from our parts department for close to $500 then we can install it or I can have my friends shop install it thats a lot closer to you.

The Sport Shifter option was discontinued for a while on the cars because they ran out and then Porsche gave us a bulletin stating that they are available again.

PS- This is Eric from the Porsche dealership

XCZ - Sport Shifter

Don't worry, we both need to install one. I was told it would cause a 1-2 week delay in my TT, which is on a ship right now. No big deal as the service departments install (and remove them) all the time. K

I seem to remember that there was a step in the B&M that you had to take that would make that option irreversible compared to the OEM SSK from Porsche. I'd have to look at the instructions again to be sure. I never actually did the install, only spoke to someone who did the install.

I've done it 4 times, nothing is irreversible, maybe a pia that's about the extent of it.

I had listed the sport shifter, but the PCNA system kicked it out and the '07 turbo arrived in Feb without it. PCNA said it had become a dealer-installed option. However, that story may have changed since Feb.

As Eric said, there was a time when you could not order the Porsche sport/short shift as an option. There was a memo. Instead, after delivery, you bought the part and put it in. Apparently there was a supply problem. This was also true for the 987.

When I check a few months ago it was back on the order guide as an option.

Ditto, I have done and redone the SSK install in many a 996. Completely reversible with proper equipment.
