997TT vs 996TT market values

So i went to the Porsche Dealer last week to see what they would give me for my 04 996tt if i was to do a trade for a 997tt. i was sad when he said 70k. i was like wtf... my sticker was 138k. so anyways we started to talk about the value of these cars and he said that the 997tt's were going to take a bigger hit then the 996tt's... He said porsche built too many of these cars. he showed me how many actual units off 997tt sold on some porsche site for dealers, and was in the thousands.. couldn't remember if it was US or entire north america.. while the 997c4s was lower then 400 units.... is this true???

Yes and no, they imported around 7000 996TT's, about 2200 '07 997TT and plan on less than 800 for MY08(coupes). The reason c4s's import #'s are down is the cost, a well optioned C4S is in TT priceland, so who in their right mind would get a C4S/x51/aero/m97(rms)/etc for 120k when for pennies more a month you could get the King with a good GT1 derived powereplant.

Once again, and this has been brought up many times before. Porsches are not investment cars, probably the worst investmen car I can think of. I've always called them stock broker cars because when the market is up, Porsche prices are up, when the market tanks, Porsche prices drop to record lows.

If you have a clean low mileage well optioned turbo, you will always be able to sell it... maybe not high, but you can sell it.

Also, a dealership is the WORST place to go get your car valued. They are buying it to make money off of it. Put if on the open market and you will always do better.
