M5 700hp vs. Porsche 997 turbo 700hp
Here are the details:
M5 specs: ASR Engineering Stage 3 NOS kit ASR Engineering NOS kit 150 shot ASR Engineering full exhaust ASR Intake Porsche 997 turbo Specs: Protomotive 700 hp package Upgraded V.V turbos full exhaust (Please keep in mind Porsche info/specs are based upon what we were told by the owner of the car) We have #2 videos one from the passanger in the M5 and another from the outside, we were only able to upload the one from the inside of the car tonight, I will post the other one tomorrow...... This was a great race also keep in mind there were #2 people in the M5 (driver and passanger) and the Porsche only had the driver in the car no passanger.....So despite the M5 being already heavier then the Porsche, the M5 has an extra person also.... Also in the posted video the proper run starts at the 49sec mark.....I am in no way bashing the Porsche I have #2 my self, and the one running in the video is very fast......but I have to give props to BMW, that 7 speed gear box is awsome....... Also note we tried to get a second run but the Porsche got a nail in the tire and the M5 ran out of NOS.....But we plan on having a rematch, and were going to throw in a modded Z06 into the mix....But for the time being enjoy the video...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhkHryaRCxM <!-- / message --><!-- sig --> |
Great Video thank you.. Is you Porsche manual or Tip ?!
Good lord! What was your mph at the end of that run?
Great video! I have mixed feelings because I have a 997 GT3 and an E60 M5 (06 with SMG). I love them both, they are each beasts in their own right. The M5 is modded making about 570 hp. Off the rolling start I can pull a stock Porsche TT by 2 to 3 car lengths. That V10 sings and your hauling an extra 1000 lbs. I am thinking about the RD Sport stroker motor, supposed to make 645 hp. All normally aspirated power. Price is steep but should be a safe blueprinted motor, all upgraded pistons, rods, valves, worked heads, cams, ECU and headers to match exhaust ports. I'm told 570 rwHP. Go BMW and go Porsche. You got to love motorsports.

We were doing 190mph
ur the one in miami that trapped 126+, cmon NOS is fun but get a real power adder ;) just teasing fast ride.
What exactly is done to the 997 TT to give it the claimed 700 hp?
Prototech VVT turbo upgrade kit with larger intercoolers, headers etc.
I agree I do love the turbo power on a daily baisis, but the NOS on the M cars are great value for the money.....I beleive they are working on a twin turbo kit for the M cars, they are currently in the R/D stage.....I think the kit will be aprox $35,000 and around 700-750 hp....

Awesome vid, thanks for sharing! Keep us posted in the turbo developments, I'd buy a turbo M5 in a heartbeat if they prove reliable.:D

What kind of a NOS shot would you be able to use (savely) on a 997TT ?
