Well, it figures...Porsche better open it's eyes.
im new on here and from Australia.
I own both, current 997tt as well as the R32 gtr. The GTR turns more heads and stirs more emotions than the blk/blk tt.
Admittedly, the gtr is highly modded enginewise, (450kw) but externally its standard albeit with bigger wheels, it is an ICON here, it was banned from production racing in the early 90's because it won everything...even when "handicapped"
The new GTR GODZILLA will NOT DISAPPOINT

I currently own a 1999 GT-R (it's for sale), and have owned many different types of vehicles, I will say this. The new GT-R wil have lots of nice technology and will perform as Nissan says I'm sure, however there are key differences with this car that would keep me from buying one.
1. it will be sold for WAY over MSRP for some time, then once they find out that they can't get away with it, the price will come down, and those who bought early will be screwed. The resale value on Nissan has never faired very well and I feel that this car is going to become another EVO/STI situation with kids trying to buy them with their college money, go racing around, and getting tickets and accidents, then the cops will have their eyes on these cars as *boy racer* cars, so with this in mind, I will pass.
2. Porsche and most German automobiles have a certain build quality and *feel* that is unlike any japanese car out there, and this comes from someone who has worked on and with tons of japanese cars, this is partly why I'm working on european now. Look at the Z06, it has awesome potential and is a good bang for the buck car, man it even whips my 360 Modena around the track, but it's still a Corvette...I dunno guys, my feeling is the GT-R is going to be the king of the *boy racer* crowd for sure, (call me a snob, or call me old LOL) but I'm not interested in being classified as a *boy racer*..

I had a modded Evo IX MR, loved it, crap interior and all but I can agree on the boy racer image - I wanted no part of it and that did factor in to my decision to sell it.
But the GTR I could make an exception for. Its respected worldwide except for the USA where it has no history but make no mistake it will be king of the stoplight grandprix and weekend track events. I appreciate it as a performance icon and despite having a Feb TT delivery I'd pick one up if I could afford the both of them.
The GTR is not your Dr.'s 3 year lease mobile, thats for sure. But true car guys simply can't diss this thing and Im sure appreciate it for its capabilities much like the Z06.

What a ridiculous comment. Because it supposedly one piece you can't tune it. What kind of horse **** is that. The ECU tunability have nothing to do with the hardware configurations. Granted you may be limited on space for a larger turbocharger configuration....but anyone that changes their turbo setup is going to change their exhaust setup. The exhaust manifold is going to dictate how your turbo is going to sit in the engine bay, then you can design your exhaust and route it accordingly.
agreed, lookin forward to seeing the tuning results!
Some of you have said, well just wait for the Turbo S...ECU mods to a turbo will kill the skyline, well, Nissan does those types of mods too, some aftermarked and some right from the factory. Models such as the NUR versions and particularly the heavily factory modded and retuned R34 Skyline Z Tune (which had a price tag similar to that of a GT2) are street and track monsters which live up the 'Godzilla' tag. Simply put, they just compare to eachother in different ways.

Here's your "handtime"
997 TT has been trumped

Check out http://www.nissan.co.jp/MS/TOKYO2007/E/index.html
and go to the GTR detail tab and watch the entire in-car movie of the 7:38 lap.
It's not much different from nissan to infiniti...
To be honest, I've been to like...3~4 different nissan and infiniti dealers and quality is about same.
Just because infiniti has "higher" models, doesn't really make difference imo.
I don't know why but other cars, like acura and lexus, you can actually notice the quality difference.
Infiniti isn't up "there" yet to be considered luxury brand.

some of the worst service i've had in my life came from acura dealers. I finally found a GM dealer that I like. On par w/ some great local lexus dealers
Good thing the car is faster then the video stream on that web-site
Lets wait for all specs, because I am wondering which version of the 3 did the 7:38.
Nevertheless great performance !
And as with all Skylines highly tunable
