how hard is the installation or would you not recommend me do it myself? sounds good... i am thinking about getting me a short shifter but i was warned about them a bit.

I guess it all depends how handy you are with the tools. Some people will think it's simple to do yourself, while others would rather just have the dealer or shop do it. I can tell you this, however, it's just a bit time consuming because you'll need to remove the center console to complete the installation. That can be a pain in the butt.

The end result, though, is totally worth it. I think having a short shifter is a must, just for the fact that your shifts will be so much more precise and convincing. The "slop" in the factory shifter will be gone altogether.
