Mostly because of the market they are geared toward. Porsche 911 Turbos are not high-volume cars in the grand scheme of things. So in order to pay for the costs of prototyping/R&D, production, marketing, etc, and still make money off what they sell, companies must charge more for Porsche gauge faces than they would for most other cars.

You're also paying for the exclusivity of the Gemballa brand, and if you already have some of their parts on the car, these are a nice addition. Everyone places a different value on things. No doubt, there are some that would not choose to spend this much on gauge faces. Then there are those that would. Same with any other high-end product...

Those are really awesome looking but companies need to consider bringing the prices down. I mean, $1200 is crazy.
