Replacing halogen bulbs with White/Brighter Bulbs
Replacing halogen bulbs with White/Brighter Bulbs
Tired of waiting for the face lift, I am considering a slightly used 2007 Targa 4.
It does not have the P74 Bi-xenon option from factory.
I dont want to spend money on retrofit but just change the bulbs to white/brighter.
Any idea where I can find the bulbs & how easy / difficult are they to replace?
Any other thoughts on the targa roof having any noises or rattles?
Thanks

Don't do it.
I've spoken to several guys over the years that have replaced stock bulbs with aftermarket higher wattage bulbs. The result is often a yellowed headlight lens. Not worth the risk, just pick up some litronics on ebay for $350/side. they are plug and play.
According to the guys at Hoen they say never run high watt bulbs in Porsche headlamps due to the large amount of plastic used. Bulbs that are not UV cut (common on the cheap ones) will yellow the housing over a few years.
A few have not taken this advice and have melted parts, suggest leaving it stock.

I did this with my E46 M3 and loved the new bulbs. They were rated the same 55 watts, but were whiter and thus brighter. Much better than stock. I think they were Hella Xenon Extreme... Check around the web and I'm sure you'll find replacement bulbs whiter but not hotter or different wattage.
