prone to engine failure.......manual or tip?

After reading these posts on engine failure and missing a gear I wonder if anyone with a Tip has any engine failures? Is there more room for mistake on a 6 speed? Just curious. TIA!!!

PS- I took my car to the track to do a 1/4 mile and I did go past the halfway redline but didn't notice anything bad happen. It's been a month and no issues so far(knock on wood)....oh yeah and I do own a tip

Nope. Its almost impossible for you to have a over-rev on your tip.

The issues with manuals isn't when shifting up or normally .. it when you do a gross misshift (2-4).

As mishref said you don't have to worry about an over-rev on a tip.

When my engine failed it wasn't related to an over rev, it was a failure of the intermediate shaft. Common problem from what the tech explained to me.

I think most of the mechanical problems with the cars were worked out after the '05 model year.

My friend had the tip transmission replaced on her 05 C2S after 3k miles. It wouldn't engage park properly and they replaced the whole unit. Haven't heard of any engine/transmission replacements on 06's and up.
