driving without tips

driving without tips

Im sending my exhaust tips to get powdercoated. Will driving without tips burn the bumper?

I think the tips do direct heat away from under the car. I'd get something temp. from Pep boys just incase. No sense in finding out the hard way...

u don't want to smoke or burn the paint on the bumper. not recommended.

I ran mine for about a week without the tips - it seemed fine. VERY loud in the cab though! Of course, YMMV!

You are going to burn the paint on the bumper. I will not recommend running with out a tip.

You'll burn the paint. I had my tips removed to get the same thing done and the body shops told me to not drive it without tips.

You can wrap the tip ends with heat shield exhaust tape found at pepboys or nearest automotive store.

Assumeing the Cayenne is the primary mode of transport, so if you must drive protecting the paint it the number one priority. The heat shield tape is the first option and the second options is store the vechicle until the tips arrive.

Nothing wrong with temporary ghetto home slice!

Got the tips back, I took the advice and sacrificed the drive for a few days lol. The tips look great by the way, I'll post some pics soon.
