go w/ the S for a little extra $$ (plus been hearing better discount off the S's vs base -- chk forum on 997 page) also true, if you load up your base--might as well get it standard. and nothing like the wht dials, red caps, bigger whls etc etc (making weak in the knees is what its all about, you will regret it i think).

and if you are a huge music buff, the Bose is just so-so. not a big deal. GL!!

get the S i love the little extra power. The bose stereo isn't the best but it's decent enough and sounds ok for what i listen too which is mp3s quality sucks anyways on mp3s.

S or no S, if you want to keep your record clean you can. Get the S, more power, options, better resale.

Thanks for all the advice. I was trying to decide between a C2 equipped with xenons, Bose, Turbo wheels, mats, sport steering wheel and red stitching on the seats or a C2S with Bose, colored crests and floor mats. In the end I ordered the C2S. The out-the-door price difference was only about $5,600. I don't want to have any regrets and I know I will if I go with the base car. Several years I ago I ordered a BMW 330i exactly how I wanted it. Six months later I traded it in for an M3. Luckily, I did not take a bath on the 330. I don't think I'll be so lucky this time.

Must have options IMO - full leather, heated seats and PSE.
lig: You don't have PSE on your car do you? Launch didn't come with PSE.

As for the original post; I say get the S. For $5500 you are getting more power, better brakes and a few options that don't come standard on the non-S. If you are really considering it, you know the right answer but don't want to part with the $5500. I don't blame you, I like keeping money in the bank too but if you are dropping $80k on a car, the extra $5500 is buying you much in the way of value...

UPDATE: I posted while on the first page, didn't see the order had been placed. Congrats, enjoy it!

You can't get the colored crest with the Turbo wheels. You also might want to take a look at the Carrera Sport wheel, which cost less ($835 vs. $890), and you get the larger 305/30 rear tire. You do not get the larger tire with the Turbo wheel on the C2S (although it says so on the P-car configurator). Also, I'd suggest the chrome tail pipes ($360), as (IMO) you're not going to be happy with the looks of the stock tail pipes. These are the only two changes I would have made to my ordered '08 C2S, if I had known. Just minor stuff though, and I LOVE my C2S. (I made three changes to my car while it was in production.)

Congrats on the order. The price difference is an absolute no brainer. You're getting quite a bit more for only $5,600.

And I agree with the masses, that bose is not that great. They're very good at marketing, very overpriced and the sound leaves a lot to be desired.

If you are asking the question get the S. There will always be a little voice in your head nagging if you don't.

I ordered the S yesterday and dealer emailed me today with an early March build date. The car should arrive just in time for Spring. I agree that given the relatively small amount involved, it's very likely that I would love the base car but the "I should've gotten the S" thoughts would always linger. Thanks everyone for the advice. The wait begins . . .
