Wheel machining?
Wheel machining?
Well, I really like the PES wheels for the 997, but they're for a wide body car and I just bought a 2006 C2S, because I love the steering feel of 2 wheel versus 4 wheel drive. So, I guess this is kind of a basic question, but can you machine a widebody wheel to fit a narrow body 997? I think you'd need to take off between 12 and 17mm of material, which probably will cause a lot of issues.
Thoughts? Has anyone ran the PES wheel on a narrow body car? What other forged (i.e. light) wheels to people enjoy on the C2S?
Thanks,
Carl

Machining over a millimeter or two off the wheel hub is just not a good idea leaving to little material at the conical seat area!
Many members are using 7-15mm spacers for their rear stock wheels to get the tires flush with fenders so using the widebody rear wheels on a C2 will produce a similar however a more pronounced result. I am sure someone with this combo will chime in!
Good luck!

I would say it would be very dangerous to try to shave a wheel! You'd be asking for trouble.
Look at their offset (outer tire position) when mounted, and that should look pretty good.
positive offsets can assist handling. So, look at the mounted result first.
It the tire is not rubbing, you can benefit from a more secure rear stance with the rims you mentioned.

some of the ferrari guys have managed to get new ferrari wheels on older ferrari's (like 550 rims on a 348) by machining. It does sound dangerous, but I guess it depends on the amount of material you have to work with...
