997S Stalling Out in the Cold Temps

After pulling out of the heated garage this morning and driving for about 10 minutes in the frigid temperature (10 degrees F), the car started acting strange. Initially I was getting on the highway and while accelerating hard in 2nd gear, the engine cut out for a moment at about 4000 RPM, like I was hitting a rev limiter. Everything seemed fine for the next 15 minutes or so until I got to an area with slow moving traffic. At that point the car began stalling out at idle and the CEL would come on. Thankfully, I was able to restart the car every time with no problem, but the CEL would always come on and the car would stall out if I didn't feather the gas pedal while stopped. The exhaust note (AWE) also sounded a little weak. I was able to get the car home thankfully and parked it in the garage to 'heal'...

Has anybody ever experienced anything like this before? Could it be something to do with the cold temp around here? Any thoughts on this are greatly appreciated...

Also on LI. Car runs fine in this stuff. Cel should go to dealer for analysis. Good luck. Gerry

P-cars are always engineered to operate and withstand harsh frigid temperature. Therefore, this is obviously a different problem, oxygen sensor gone AWOL or something. Check with your dealer for a thorough diagnose, the system should had stored the cel codes and cause.

Good luck!

Thanks...Car's at the dealer now...I'll let you know what the story is with it...Sounded like it wasn't running on all cylinders - very disconcerting - hopefully just a minor software fix and nothing requiring engine work. In the meantime, they gave me a new Cayenne to drive around in - a great loaner for these winter months...

Cayenne for a loaner! Maybe you should visit the dealer more often.

Picking up the car tomorrow...Turned out to be a faulty Mass Air Flow Sensor (which has been replaced)...Figured while it was there, I might as well have them put on some Techart pedals too..
