Whos car is this?
Hi Folks,
I just want to address a few things here that have been brought to my attention....
1. My client was fully aware of said video, permission was granted by him for this kind of driving which was required to make sure the NEW APR Software was doing what it was supposed to be doing in all gears. Also, this was not a known ECU to APR so a fresh code was written for this particular car becuase they had not seen this box number as of yet.
2. APR had code for early 997 TT's, this particular car needed to have the OEM code "sucked" out to allow APR to do the re-write, basically the same code just changed around due to the new ECU. Because this was the case, I had to do extensive testing on behalf of APR which again the customer was well aware of to make sure we got it right the first time.
3. I also had to put miles on this car before I went to an outside dyno because our Dynojet 424x is not a belt linked dyno and on the 997's you CAN NOT drop the driveshaft like on the 996.
4. I was driving up to FFLD. to the Dyno Dynamics next to Home Depot and George happened to leave behind me with a customers Supra which was being shaken down before delivery and we got on it a few times, again, all in the best interest of the customer (Ken Y) and his new 997 TT. Regardless of the camera being there or not, I would have done the same thing I had planned on, some highway pulls I planned on doing before I even finished the radar install.
Cheers,
Brian

Anybody remember a TV show about 10 years ago of Alois Ruf taking a car out for a 200mph run... AT NIGHT. ??? I'm guessing that was a customers car. Pure luck he wasn't killed that night. That car was outrunning its headlights BIG TIME.
I picture this guy in the video (test driving) a car that way the owner would be driving it eventually. Plus, like he mentions, he had permission. Lots of times the shops have pretty good relationships with the customers before work is done on the cars, right? I have a buddy with a MONSTER 911 turbo that he spent $40K+ on a few years ago, now spending another $25K+ to make faster yet. He tells me when it's out here in CA, to drive the crap out of it. Now... I would never do that, for fear it would blow up on me. But he REALLY wants me to do it. I dont get it. There are guys who dont mind someone driving their car like that.

While I understand where you are coming from .. Comparing them to Ruf-Auto is a bit of a stretch. One is a legal run on the Autobahn (with an experienced driver behind the wheel) and the other is street race with a Supra.

[quote=B-moreBroker;1679397]The same kind of guys who like to watch other dudes $%&# their wives... I've heard that Eskimos would rather lend out their wives than their tools. Can't wear out a wife. Missing a shift would be a lot safer too, I guess
Whatever you guys say, ICS builds some AMAZING cars. Ok they probably shouldn't put up videos like this one because people get the wrong impression. Seriously you need to go to the shop to get an idea of what they can do. The garages/lots are filled with some of the biggest street/track beasts around. At any given time there are a handful of STIs/EVOs that are just crazy fast. I have had my Audi worked on there and so have a few guys I know, and Brian has been nothing short of great.
