The window to buy my first 911 is close (again)
The window to buy my first 911 is close (again)
Since I was a kid I dreamed with a 911. First time I saw the Porsche ad on TV I saw myself 20 years ago.
I've worked so hard to save money for a decent down payment all my life. In two opportunities I was ready to purchase and I didn't find the right car and then something extraordinary happened and the money was gone.
Yesterday I had to use the $40K for down payment for my first 911 for something unexpected for my relatives. They are OK (thanks good) and I'm back to zero in my porsche saving account. I think is destiny.
In the end, I feel well that I was able to help when my relatives needed me.
My First 911 is going to have to wait for me (again).
Regards

dude that's a solid ride. who cares? i know your bummed but you shouldn't even really be considering "saving" for a car... it's a worthless investment as i'm sure you are aware. just wait for the time to come when you can comfortably afford one no big deal. you will be able to enjoy it 100% stress free, dont forget maintanence, insurance, etc. i could be wrong but it seems as though you are attempting to over extend yourself and that's never cool. i've been in that position before and it kills all the enjoyment.

i had the same thing happen to me before in 02. i was spec-ing out my c4s and something drastic happened that in fact caused me to not buy my first Porsche along with selling my 02 s2000 and 02 bmw 330ci then.
Years later in 05 i was finally able to get my first Porsche, which was Cayenne S and again 3 years later I was able to get my second Porsche.
I hope all is well, it's only a car. Family is priceless.
If it helps, i will let you drive my 911 if u r in town. :-)
cheers Raja

Well, I am 48 and my son is in his first year of college. I remember 6 years ago my wife and I looking at the new MB SLs just before he went to a private high school @20k/year (bright kid and public schools in our area was not an option). Well, said good bye to SL sent kid to private h.s.. Then, one year ago was looking at new 997....again worried about private college (we did have money in a fund...but not enough). Said good bye to 911...wait another 4 years. By now my old car is 10 years old with 160k miles. Finally, a break...he gets lots of $$$$ in academic scholarships at a well known top 10 school and my wife buys a red 911 Targa for me as a wedding anniversary 3 months ago! You never know when your luck might change....
BTW, I bought her roses for the anniversary....life is not exactly fair!
good luck

Abe, good for you for doing the right thing. Cars come and go, family is forever. When you finally get your Porsche, it will be a very sweet experience.
I have worked very hard to get to the point were I could afford one, and I never get out of my Porsche and not think how lucky I am to have it, and I enjoy it every time I drive it.
Good Luck

First911 is the one who will have to wait for his car.
