what's not too impressive is that auto tranny . and the seats are still horrible. porsche needs to do something about their standard seats. look at how nice the seats are in the M3. its like the side-bolstering in the 911 seats is nonexistent. but from the outside i think its beautiful.

And if you paid that kind of loot to be first on the block for the US 996 in spring 1998 , it would get you $30K or even less at auction right now . Or those who paid $175K flip price for first "bumper wart " Turbos 4 years ago now being offered $70 K trade.

Overall impressions. It looks like they have tried to pretty up the car with some new interior stuff and apologize for the cheap route they took on the headlights on the 996.

The standard wheels on the "S" are really ugly. As always Porsche always does well in marketing the car and making it seem like this is the next best thing. If you don't have a 996 I can see why you may opt to buy a 997. But being an owner of one I see no value in changing out a classic for the next generation product.

It sounds like a great car and again new technology always impresses me. So Porsche should do well with this car as always and continue to be the most profitable auto company in the world.
