Ordering C2S; questions from new poster

Hello all, I am going to order a C2S soon and had some questions. I would appreciate any advice.

1. Is the X51 worth it? I like engines that rev (currently have a 2004 M3, and drove a 1990 M3 for seven years) and read in Excellance that the X51 has a different character than the regular C2S.

2. Opinions on Basalt Black versus Black.

3. If not the X51, what would work for modding? F77, etc?

Thanks!

Great questions . I did the F77 on my previous car and absolutely loved it . The midrange punch of the ECU along with the Tubi exhaust pitch and tone was just right for me .The carbon airbox was IMO a work of art. I did add the EVO headers . Now I will say this --only 5 months into that car I liked it so much I began to ponder a modded Turbo ( and bought my current car) . I also have the carbon airbox (Werks1) and Tubi on this car 997tt . Now it will not sound or have the same driving characteristics of the normally asiprated car . It's less seamless upon acceleration BUT it is an absolute beast. I love both for joy each has given me while driving and having had the variery I wish I could have kept them both too. I did have to choose one.

X51 is OEM and beautiful too . Most cars on the lot don't have it (mine didn't) but if you are ordering the car it might a be a very tough decision . I have not driven enough in an X51 to detail it . I was only a passenger one time and was very impressed.

I won't criticize either of your selections at all .

Regular black Vs Basalt -- I have the regular black and it does require some effort to clean but it's my preference of the two .

Good luck with your new car and whatever choice you decide.

I never felt the x51 was worth it relative to other mods out there. x51 costs $13K installed for 25 extra hp. EVO supercharger $16K installed for +100 hp. Ruf Supercharger w/ 2 year warranty costs $26K for +100hp.

Regular Black is the way to go.

For Mods, I agree with you, the full Tubi system sounds awesome! The RSS Plenum is pretty popular now for 10 extra hp, as is chipping and exhaust.

Good luck, and hold on to your wallet! I learned that the hard way after joining this place

I would rather have a lightly optioned GT3 than a loaded C2S - especially for the revs. This assumes you'll be ordering a new car and that you can find a GT3 of course.

I like the regular black. Sometimes Basalt looks a little dusty to me.

MartinJF is infamous around these parts
Get the Sport Chrono Plus and a few other options. For more power you can do the X51 (I thought it was too much money), I think I will do the Plenum, an Intake and an ECU update, that will get me most of the X51 at a fraction of the cost.

I will track my car and do some AutoX, if you are new to this spend some money on some track time, far more fun than upgrades (at least that is what I think!).

Thanks, all, for the input. I have some thinking to do.

I agree with you comment completely. Training and track time are worth every penny. I raced formula cars for five years and have a box full of ugly trophies.

The "feel" of the engine is important to me, but this will also be a daily driver. A GT3 would be awesome, but they are made of un-obtanium.

1. no, not to me. i have owned e36 m3 and e46 m3 previously. And the 997 c2s is more than enough car. the x51 cost too much. for less u can get more aftermarket.
2. basalt blk. blk is nice but if u want part time job, then get jet black. this coming from someone who runs a detail shop. owned basalt blk cayenne s before.
3. f77 is way to go, expensive but i like it and approve it.
4. before any mods i suggest de or pde (by porsche). i know i could improve in my driving.
