If the dealer goes looking and wants to deny a claim they really can based on your ECU showing up as having been modified. As long as you know that up front and/or have a cool SA at the dealer you're ok though.
Thanks Sharky, I guess the one way around it would be to have a second ECU and swap them as needed. I guess then they will then try and find another way to void the warranty, like any other mod.

Hey Northvan, no worries and that won't really work either. It logs the time/usage on the car. So if you have a stock ECU with say 15,000 miles and 1 hour of use well you get the idea I'd also stay away from any files with a higher rev limiter. That's the one thing that dealers don't like (for obvious reasons). You also need to have someone with a PIWIS set it up the spare ECU right

The best option is still to use a flash that can revert back to stock bit for bit and is NOT detectable or not use any. The switchable programs cant do this and it requires a program to re write it every time. The simple fact is that ANY program that resides in the memory chip other than original is detectable. There is only one company on the market that can fully re write the original file as part of its package.

Best,

Softronic is the brand and is custom software and can revert back to stock maps. A local Porsche shop to me uses this software and some guys where I track are using softronic and from speaking with some of my track friends with 997S's they are thinking of doing some software ecu upgrade and do not know which way to turn so i told them about Softronic and there history with Porsche.

I can not tell you from personal experiance because my ecu is stock but I have heard and read post's of very happy customers of Softronic.

If I was doing an ecu upgrade Softronic would be the one I would use.

i am happy with Giac flash with evo intake although i am down to 14mpg hard city driving but louder and more responsive, feel it on the track as i can nearly keep up with the 996 tt x50's on the straights....as before i was significantly lagging..(i might also be getting faster and nothing to do with the flash)
also it has not voided my warranty at my LOCAL dealer although if i move, who knows...

Again I have hard time understanding how one software could be significantly better than another.

Except maybe in the case of the GIAC which to the best of my understanding when I was first looking at software only programmed for 91 Gas.

My APR has Stock, 91,93, and 100 available at any time I want to change.

I run 93 all the time. When I do a DE I will try the 100.
How exactly can you change it from being on 91 octane mode to 100

It comes with 4 different programs plus a security code that allows to lock your throttle.

I have stock, 91,93,and 100. Changeable by either the computer control or the turn signal. I haven't changed it all and just left it at 93.

Did you ever dyno your car or run a unmodified s? You car has every performance mod possible. How much faster do you think it is??

This weekend at Sebring there will be a yellow 996tt with black ccw wheels and #50...see if you can keep up with him. I have new Sparco gloves in red so you can see my point by's better.
