Wait until the tuners get a hold of that twin-turbo v-10. Can you imagine. 650HP+ for a $3500 flash?

I think it will be difficult due to the higher weight and softer suspension tuning. But we shall see...

No flames please..just saw Top Gear pitted the 997 and the R8 recently and they chose the R8, it did handle much better than the 997, but the 997 was faster. I'm wondering if the extra torque will produce to much and will kill the superior handling.

I remember seeing the Top Gear test where they drag raced, the 997S got a big jump on the R8 (Clarkson was driving the R8...so much for his drag racing abilities) but the R8 closed the gap at the QM finish line but still finished behind the better driven 997S. I remember the 997S having the powerkit option. The R8 also weighs about 3500 lbs.

Niether of these car were designed to be drag racers and even the one posting the best lapping times won't be what determines what I drive, other than how well it does what I need it to do on a daily driving basis. I love the feeling I get when driving my 997S, just wish it had more torque. I have yet to drive an R8 and the next time I have the opportunity I will; but from those that have driven it seem to really have excellent things to say about the driving experience and the way the car was constructed. The 911 is just such a pure classic form that holds so much, especially for those of us fortunate/blessed to have been driving them for over 25 years...
