C4S & Turbo all wheel drive question...

I formerly owned a 2007 997 Turbo and LOVED the all-wheel drive experience - perhaps because I found it 'invisible' in the light steering compared to a previously driven (but not owned) 993 C4S. I did NOT care for that experience at all - finding the steering heavy which seemed to find it's way to an overall uninspiring drive and bulky feel. Admittedly the Turbo has way more horsepower than the 997 C4S, and acceleration aside, can anyone comment on the overall driving/steering feel of the car compared to the Turbo? Is the all-wheel drive system the same for the 997 C4S?? Thanks!

The AWD systems for the Turbo and C4 cars are different. I'm not sure how, but I'm sure someone here does. I drive a non-S C4 and love it. Steering feel is great, but I don't have a Turbo handy to compare it too...

printemps2001 is infamous around these parts
I don't know the engineering behind it, but I have read that the Turbo AWD emphasizes perfomence over all weather driving whereas the C4 is the opposite. I recently read an article (don't remember where) that said the Turbo is getting a new AWD system and that is will be a better all season car. I'm sure someone here knows the details.

I just did the opposite. I went from a 08 C4S to a 08 997TT. The C4S is a great handling car, feels planted through corners, and it handled the Chicago winter weather like a charm (with snow tires of course). I don't know the technicalities of the all-wheel drive systems in the C4S and 997TT, but they do feel different (perhaps accentuated because I have the LSD on the turbo). However, unlike your experience with the 993, I would not describe the C4S steering as heavy at all (it certainly had more road feel and felt more nimble than my 04 C2), but it is not as precise as the 997TT . I loved the C4S but decided to go to the 997TT because I wanted more hp/acceleration.

I hope this is helpful. Let me know if there are any specific questions I can answer for you.

Turbo to C4S - or back to the Turbo?

I actually have an 08 Turbo on order, but with a CLK 63 AAMG Black Series in the garage as well, I have other places to get my horsepower/torque fix - and what a 'fix' the CLK delivers - along with it being THE best sounding car I've ever had...OK...enough Mercedes talk. I started this thread because I am thinking of doing the C4S rather than the Turbo to save a few $$ since I want to keep the Black Series too. It would be a small concession towards the 12-step recovery program I need for my car addiction! I am due to drive a C4S tomorrow to see what I think. Thanks again.
