First Pcar flat experience

From past experiences, I always keep a plug kit, a Leatherman. pliers in the glovebox and a rolled up sheet in trunk of all my cars, and lucky for me,I just put that stuff in the pcar that morning. I probably jinxed myself in the process. Long story short, sheetrock screw removed,, tire plugged and refilled with air. A 20 minute sucessful repair on the side of the road. Got the car home. The Porsche compressor will get the tire to 20lbs before you hit the 10 min max run time. Enough to get to a gas station to top it off. Also, the aux 12volt socket on the passenger side of the foot well is not strong enough to power the compressor. The fuse will blow. Tire still holding 45 psi this morning. Anyone have a used 305/30/19 their looking to sell. Hahaha

I just call roadside assistance and get 2 new (free) tires. :D

I just put together my spare tire kit, per Coochas' recommendation.

See this old thread. https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ighlight=spare

I also ended up ordering a protector for the hood now since there is a small possibility that the tire can jump. It's from www.dasschild.com

He probably picked up the Fidelity Road Hazard insurance package... It costs between $400 and $450 depending on the dealership and will replace any tires destroyed due to road hazard for free...

I had it for my 997 when I frequently drove around the city... worked out well... I got 3 new CSC's for free ($1500 in value)...

Only time insurance has paid off for me...

I got a flat on my Turbo and made it home as the tire was still full but hearing pssssssssssss as I got out . Timberrrrrrrrrr.

Roadside sent a truck the next day and two tires later (even wear neurosis) it was all better except for the cost factor. I not a newbie to the $1K flat tire scenario so I price this into this type of car as a routine expense at least once every two years .

Wheel & tire warranty. The cost is roughly equal to one rear tire. If the tires have over (I forget the exact number) ~25% wear gone, they must replace both side tires.

I've just bought the tire insurance for 260 from American tire.
well worth it I think....one tire already will cost you 500+

Is this warrentee avail at anytime from the dealer or only when the car is new?

Not sure, but if you have a Discount Tire, they will sell you a road hazard on OEM's as well.

I need to do something. I've been left on the freeway TWICE with a flat tire. One during rush hour and the other at 230am! What plug kit are you guys using and best place to get it? TIA

B-moreBroker 04-21-2008 07:21 PM

You can get the road hazard warranty at any time... just call your dealer and say you want it...
