Brake fading after installing GT3 front.....Help !!

Tracked the car today for the first time. After app 6 laps of a fairly small track (app 1 min 10 sec/lap) A pinging noise and a message apeared on the display saying something like "brake service due.." The car is a 08`Targa4 Tip. with 9500 kms all of which I have done since December.

I ignored the warning and drove for three more laps and noticed the pedal taking furter in on each lap. I stopped pushing and went for a slow lap to cool the brakes, at which time the pedal went straight to the floor....

In the pits I examined the pads, and they looked barely used...

After a break of app one hour I went out agan and exactly the same happened again...

I just had the GT3 front installed but have not yet installed the small "wind deflectors" on the underside. But as they are so small I find it hard to believe this is the whole reason... I also drove with PSM on, with a sligh drift in some places, and someone suggested the psm was cooking the brakes to stop my slides ????

I am going to the Nurburgring next week to attend the scuderia driving school and I am worried if I messed up my brakes before I go......

Any suggestions pls ?

Sounds like you boiled your brake fluid. I would try something like ATE Super Blue and run PSM off and see if that does the trick.

+1, sounds like fluid, what would PASM have to do with it?

oops... messed up PASM and PSM.

It's just more fun w/o PSM. My car is ~ 2 seconds faster per run while autocrossing with PSM off.

I honestly don't know if PSM uses brakes or cuts power to slow/control the car when you're out of shape so that is what I think the OP was alluding to.

Agree on the boiling, but what caused it ?? I measured the fluid today and it tolerated 280 degrees celcius and had 0,2 percent water...both far within the limits set by the track marshalls......

I guess I have to bleed the brakes now as the fluid closest to the calippers have been boiling and is probably of a worse quality than in the measuring can....

Also had the air scopes under the GT3 front installed, but they seem quite small. Was told I could go for the similar GT3 RS or GT2 items, which are bigger.....but I always thought the Porsche brakes would be more than suficient for light track use without doing any modifications....

Did you install the GT3 Brake deflectors? they are different than the S version.

The GT3 or stock brake spoilers that clip on to the lower arms are the only way to direct air to cool the brakes on your stock car. What happened is you wore down the pads and as the pads get thinner they transfer more heat to the caliper which will easily boil the brake fluid. For the track you will need better pads like Pagid RS29 Yellows or Performance Friction PF97 and either Motul 600 or Castrol SRF brake fluid. Go snap on the brake air spoilers!!!!!
Also maybe lighten up on the threshold braking....that is usually my problem...I start thinking I am driving a F1 car!

I also drive a Tip at the track to...in manual mode. PSM will apply a little rear brake to help keep the car in line at times. PSM if turned off will come right back during hard braking at the track. It's a pain to keep turning back off and dangerous too so I just leave it on. If you are fast and ultra smooth PSM (Please Save Me) will not affect lap times.
