As I understand it, this is a rear fog light? As in people behind you can see you better in fog...

Yep! for driving in extreme fog. The cars pulling up behind you can see your car and on the left side to pass you.

yep...+1^^...and don't bother getting a bulb for the right side...there is no voltage there...

But you can mod. EZ thing to do. I did it on my car. Only use when there is extreme situation with fog, heavy rain or some one tailgating me.

Also used when parking in small areas where the rear sticks out a little. It brings attention to the potential hazard.
