Targa owners - sun, glass, heat?

I'd like to hear from Targa owners. Porsche claims that the glass is formulated to block heat out, but does it actually work? I can't imagine it to be 100% effective... What about with the sunshade? What's your experience with the targa glass panel? Is your interior scorching hot after leaving it parked in the sun?

DCI is infamous around these parts
It was really hot here in Boston last week. I left my office at 3pm and the car war reading a outside temp of 102. The interior was of course hot, but hotter than a normal car.....not sure. The car cools down very quickly with the AC but I did notice the heat coming from the glass roof a bit while driving. I would say the difference is negligible, the shade and glass do a pretty good job, but of course a steel light blocking roof would be better.

You can tint the panaroma glass, done it on my cayenne reduced the heat marginally.

The tinted glass top does a good job of rejecting most of the heat (the top of the glass gets very hot, indicating how much heat is being reflected). My biggest concern is the amount of brightness that comes through my sunshade more than the heat. I'm considering swapping out my shade for the newer 2008 version which is heavier. I expect that will help considerably. Right now, I sometimes need to wear my hat to keep the sun out of my eyes (ie, the sun shining through the sunshade). The sunshade on the 2007 models has a 996 part number, and resembles screening in a screen door. The sunshade in the 2008 models has a 997 part number which supersedes the old number, and it is much denser and appears more effective. I'm also considering adding a little tint to my large rear window.

DCI is right, the heat buildup doesn't seem much different inside the car. I see he has a 2008 model too, which at least has a better sunshade.

It was hot here in NJ yesterday 94+ but the targa was very comfortable (07) with the sunshade in place. I have black interior so I was as always quite pleased. The only problem I have with the Targa is the stupid switch that controls both the sunshade and the opening of the roof. I want to do one thing and the switch always seems to want to do the other. It looks like thay changed the switch for 09. I hope Iwill be able to change it out.
