Keep in mind the -20mm is below stock 997 height - so that means you'll be 10mm lower than a PASM equipped 997S. So a 997S with this option will be 10mm lower than a 2005-2008 997S (about 3/8" lower). It would have been nice if they could have gone say 3/4" down from the 997S stock height - that's what I did with the Damptronics and it was just right.

I hear it's worth it, however.

Less rotational mass and smoother shifting.

I can't speak from experience and rumor has it that the new Ferrari California may have this.

BTW what's the "Universal Audio adapter at $440"?

The universal audio adapter is what is going to allow you to connect an ipod and some other audio sources.

Porsche wants us to believe it's worth it too:
http://www.egmcartech.com/2008/06/18...me/#more-22200

The article above states that the 997 mk2 manual can do the 'Ring in 7:58. If you buy the PDK option above + sports chrono plus for $5k, then it will cut that time down by 8 seconds to 7:50!

As nice as that sounds, I still can't see myself enjoying a paddle shifting car. My lexus IS has paddles (yes, I know its slow and not a sports car), and my sister's Cayman is a tip, and I think driving both is very boring. Definitely not as engaging.

The Universal audio adapter is an option that allows you to use an iPod, USB flash drive, or any mp3 device via plug and play it through the PCM. This is totally worth it since you can go out and buy a 8GB flashdrive and call it a day (no more CD's needed)!

All the reviews really make the new 911 a very livable machine for daily driving. I have no doubt that it's an even better car than the one we're driving now. I also have no doubt that the options are going to add up quickly

That's good to know, thank you.

I have a device coming out that allows full integration to the MOST and D2B systems and provides a choice of two channel analog or 5.1 digital surround sound output.

Will allow one to replace the garbage factory speakers and amplifiers.

And there is full iPod integration.

Allows full use of all the OEM systems as well-nav, cd, phone, radio, etc..

What's the name of this device? Will it work on current PCM's in the 997?

It will work on any vehicle that uses the MOST or D2B optical digital systems.

The D2B was mostly M-B from 2000-2004. Now the MOST system is more universally used.

Have not yet chosen a trade name for the unit but it should follow some of my other product offerings.

I was just driving my Porsche today thinking to myself, "Wow, stock speakers really sound like **** in this car." Seriously.

The 5.1 digital surround and replacement of factory speakers and amps sounds like a nice option. I think every European car manufacturer needs this option since I'm still unimpressed by their stock systems.
