Just installed EVO SSK and shift link - The Results
Took about 3 hrs from start to finish, with removing console and all.
Shifts feel a lot better. Not too much reduction where it is tough to get in gear, and just short enough to make things more comfortable. Nicer more positive feel going between gears.
However, this took an hour longer than it should have due to the EVO shifter assembly aluminum end bearings not fitting inside the stock shifter housing. The diameter of the aluminum end caps are too wide to slide into the stock mount holes! I happend to have some end bearing caps from a B&M SSK, so I rummaged them out of my junk box and guess what- They were too large as well!!
So, after starting to grind one of the end caps down I took a look at the stock end caps that I had cut off. I had left a few of the plastic retainer snaps intact. They fit the EVO shifter just fine and kept the assembly tight in the stock shifter housing. So, I just re-used the stock bearing end caps and JB-welded them back in place. Easy as pie.
I'm thinking, why don't some of these manufacturers QA check their stuff before selling it? Other than that the EVO kit works well. Keep this potential "gotcha" in mind when purchasing any aftermarket SSK.

I have the same shifter and yeah not to much reduction but it feels way better than stock. I tried a 996 gt2 with short shifter and if feels way shorter and stiffer I don't really know what's the difference is since both cars use same shifter
did you have an issue with the aluminum end barrels not fitting inside the stock plastic shift housing? That was a real pisser, not like I could stop what I was doing at that point or drive to the parts store.. But I agree I like the shift feeling much much better. The action is still very free-flowing like stock, but my arm no longer needs to fly around as much rowing 1-6
