997 Gauge Cluster Removal
C4SxM5: Over at RennTech there is a thread with pictures from the factory tech manual:
http://www.renntech.org/forums/index...howtopic=21715
its the 6th post down the thread. Step 4 means "pull so hard that it almost breaks, but not quite".
Good luck.
You might need to join RennTech to see the pictures. It is an excellent site. Pay $20 to become a contributing member and you can download TONS of information including some factory manuals.

To help out a bit: Just got my Gauge cluster out and the cluster shroud that goes around it (getting CarbonFiber). If you remove the center A/C vent first make the job easier. The A/C vent can be remover by using a screw driver up inside the vents (top side). In there, is a tab on both the L & R vent. With the screw driver, bend those tabs. The vent area will now pop out about 2 inches.
Grab and pull a bit harder on the vent, & out it will pop. Don't pull too hard, as there are a few wires (4) to be disconnected.
After you get that A/C out of the way. Go for the gauge cluster as described earlier in this post. There are only TWO screw holding the gauges in place (on the bottom area of the gauges). Once those are out, grab ahold of the gauge cluster, and pull hard with your left hand. With your right, sneak it in the A/C vent opening (where they used to be), you can get in behind the gauge cluster. Push really hard. The Right side of the cluster will pop free. Then pull even harder with your left hand and the left side will pop free. There's SMALL wire harness on the left side of the gauges (from behind) that will have to be disengaged. Done.
