I did the same hack using a 2.25 inch ss pipe. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.

At first i thought it was quieter, but after a few days it sounds awesome!!!!

I took it to the delaer to check the brakes and when the service tech brought it out he asked me: "Is that an aftermarket exhaust? That things sound deep and awesome."

Not bad for $80 and a little bit of elbow grease.

Thanks Gundo for the great pics!

Evaporative emissions would indicate gas cap not tight-should have nothing to do with tail pipe emissions.

If its saying there's an issue with the evap emmissions, theres a problem. Its not gonna go way on its own. Now if its the gas cap issue, the next refill and you properly putting the cap on tight will fix it. If you knocked a hose or fitting loose on the engine, you need to put it back on... make sure all the hoses are properly seated and not damaged.

Sounds more like a coincidental issue and not muffler related. Remember, you can completely remove the mufflers and still not get a CEL.
Isn't your pcar still under warranty?

Definite coincidence. There is no reason the muffler hack would give a CEL. Perhaps you loosened a cat during the process?

I like summoboy's summary - definitely related to the gas tank. Might just be the gas cap.

You should hear that exhaust in a cab - it's awesome!

Glad to hear you're enjoying!
