Warranty expiring
Warranty expiring
I have a 2005 997. Warranty expires at the end of the year. Any need to take it to the dealer for a computer check for any fault codes and general check up--car runs fine. Any thoughts?
I would be very picky about every little thing on your car. If the tranny shifts a little rough mention it, tell them you have noticed some oil on the ground where you parked, The RMS will likely start leaking, I had mine serviced this week and I was informed that the seal "wet", and was told that they all start to leak, Porsche has installed a "diaper" to collect the little bit of oil that is leaking. When they fix it, you may want to see if things like the clutch are in need of being replaced.
GL and report back with you results.

It certainly wouldn't hurt having it inspected prior to warranty expiration. This is especially true if it hasn't been to a dealer's shop in awhile.
My 2005 997S's warranty expired in September and I went through the same process. I wasn't very concerned that they would find anything since I've always been **** about the slightest problem.
There is a life after warranty . . . . . Good Luck!

My service tech gave my car a very thorough look-over. Still, I bought an extended warrantee.
After extensive research I went with ProCare, which the dealer actually sells. My first source for advice was my service rep, since he is the one who has to deal with all after-market warranty companies. I asked him: which after-market warranty company accepts the most claims/ never hassles or nit-picks/ gets approvals immediately. He pointed me to ProCare. Now, Caveat Emptor: that is the one my dealer sells. But I was OK, in fact comfortable with that. It gives them leverage. And price-wise, it was on-par with my 2nd option.
