The winter cleaning starts...
Well put. Dude, it's a depreciating asset; not art work.
I dont know about everyone, but when I get ready to sell my car, I am sending to Stacy for a detail. I figure I can get an addditional 4k with that much detail. I am a fellow 6speeder so the cost should be free
Heh we all love these cars.....nothin wrong with it. Check out town porsche website. They have a C4S cab (black) 4 sale. Look at the end of the invoice comments. this dude had this thing in a sealed bag for christ sakes. If anyone is looking for a new car used, this is it. Tryin to get my buddy to go 4 it. Cant get him around the color.(its a ***** to detail)

Looks like we won't be as busy this coming year so I may be able to actually enjoy it(sunny weather only)!
As far as going to AZ,I borrow a buddies enclosed trailer....I would never drive it that far....as nice of a drive it would be,it would kill me,LOL!
I agree on the depreciating comment but strongly disagree with the "not a work of art" comment,LOL!
I wear my car like my clothes.....always clean,LOL!
It was the big joke(NSX Prime) when I had my NSX a few years ago...fix/build them up,make all these parts for it but really don't enjoy them or at least not to other peoples standards anyway!
Seriously,cleaning/building parts for my cars is so relaxing to me.
I will have to get a hoist one of these days though.
Stacy
PS the big job will be to try and bring the stainless exhaust back to a brilliant shine(not looking forward to that, well OK maybe I am)!

For those who do not know Stacy, this guy is nuts. Check a thread he started because he was not happy with the quality of his side skirts! Man, the guy made them himself. Now that is what I call dedicated to quality. I am waiting for him to come up with an idea to replace the lame a$$ battery covers in the 997. Total junk.......No hijacking Jim
So glad I live in the Mid-West where I can drive my car everyday of the year. The only thing that stops me is when the snow gets deeper than 6". Why would I not want to enjoy my car everyday of the year, I just don;t know. It depreciates when it's sat in the garage so i might as well enjoy it to the full.
Enjoy your cleaning!

Stacy, drive that thing! Not only are our cars a work of art to look at but they are a rolling piece of art and that is when the real art of Porsche comes in, driving them. I love driving my car and dont care about the rain, no worse than washing it and its fun to be out driving in the elements. I only draw the line in the winter when the salt starts flying in Pittsburgh, after that I am not going to have the car get blasted with cinders when i have plenty of others in the garage to drive. But hey, if thats what you enjoy, to each there own.
Bored today so I thought I would post a couple of more pics....
Cleaned up the exhaust and then sent it out for a good polishing.....came out great IMO !
Here is a couple of pics.

PS wait until you see the badges(Carrera S) I am having made...should look un-real !

A friend of mine, who helps me out with building my car parts, owns a shop in Phoenix AZ. that specializes in semiconductor manufacturing,Graphite coated with a CVD layer of Diamond, parts for all types of reactors, from EPI to Gallium depositions, also In 3d machining of electrodes for the EDM industry..Yeah I think he is qualified to machine my parts,LOL!
We have decided to machine the badges (3D) out of graphite that is intended for Semiconductor,Electronics and Aerospace fields.
Once machined they will be done in a process called 'Glassy Carbon impregnation' and then surrounded by a very thin polished billet outline, once cleared should look amazing!!!I just need to decide if I want the 'S' to be done in a red colour(match the brake calipers). The impregnated graphite colour in the sunshine looks quite astounding.I just want to have something other than a plastic piece or carbon fiber,so I figured the graphite should be exotic enough to fit the bill!
We will see......may take a bit of time but winter is just starting,LOL !

Managed to get the front bumper off without taking the headlights out(since the pic I have pulled the headlights out).
Headlight removal:
**Anybody trying to remove their headlights(hint): Use a 5 mm 6 point socket to turn the bolt a 1/4-1/2 turn, which will release the headlight**
As per VF engineerings instructions they say the front bumper had to come off anyway, allowing me to give it a good detail behind it.I just needed a reason to go to this extreme so some of you didn't think I was 'NUTS' so I bought a VF supercharger to justify the insanity,LOL!

Added a better pic of the exhaust again

At best I've stopped eating/shopping at certain places due to my insecurity with lack of adequately spaced parking spots. You sir, are just light years ahead and I wish I could pay that much attention to detail. Wow!
