Painting DRL

Does anyone know if the w5w DRL can be painted so the light can't be seen? or will this cause the bulb to die real quick?

It would be a lot easier to just turn them off. This can be done via the OBC.

the thing is im wiring in some LEDs in the fog light housing and I want to wire them were the w5w bulbs are but then it sets off the dash light. If I leave the bulb in with the leds then no lights but I don't want the w5w to be on. I could wire a resister but its a pain so could I just spray paint the bulb black?

I'm sure the dealer's PWIS will handle that job. If it's a 997 w/ Sport Chrono you can turn them off/on via personalization from the PCM.

The manual for the car is incorrect. The DRLs can only be turned off via the On Board Computer (OBC), there is no menu choice in the PCM even with the Sport Chrono option.

This is from personal experience!!!

Pull the bulb and put in the right resistor so the computer sees the right load. if you paint the bulb it will probably die from overheating too soon, plus thats just a bit too ghetto for a Porsche 997

My PCM has that menu choice in the 'SET Function' under 'Individual Memory" > 'Lights' > 'Run Driving Lights' > 'On/Off'

To be honest I've never tried it but it's right on my PCM.
