Need help with ECU flash
Need help with ECU flash
Here we go again!!! Got the Evo cold air intake on the way and was hoping for opinions on flashing my ecu. I know i know bout searching the thread but was hoping for some advice on first hand experience ppl. Lastly if you can refer me to anyone in the OC , LA, or SD area so if anything goes wrong i can resolve the problem and not have to fedex my ecu to another state. Thank you all in advance!!!
I can't say enough good about the Softronic ECU program Scott made for me on my 2007 C2S. It really made a nice difference. Plus with Softronic you can install the flash yourself in about 10 min and then go back to stock if you needed to.
Search Softronic on this forum for tons of info.

I had the softronic flash as well. I had no issues with it I had a base carrera that had full exhaust cold air intake k&n airfilter and the flash and after those mods my car dynoed 295 HP The flash was very easy to install but at the time it was not compatible with mac so you need a pc laptop.
Hey mdrums n fastlane by reading some of ur guys review about softronic I'm gonna get it after I put my Evo intake in n try to feel any differences. Thanks for convincing me. Btw fastlane what u mean by base carrera with 295HP after install? Is there any holiday or economic type discount u know of
Oh sorry for the confusion, what I mean is that my carrera was a base model not S and 295 HP was at the wheels not the crank. So after all of my mods I was close to the power of a stock S model.

gmoney, why is it that you refer me to them? what are you trying to tell me about them? thanks just curious and any advice or referral will be appreciated. no prob fastlane! thanks for your post also
A few reasons, they do good work, the prices are fair and they often work with you when buying multiple big ticket items, they are local and they also offer a few different ECU upgrades from various tuners.
Def. worth dropping by and checking them out regardless of what path you take.

I have the GIAC upgrade and thought it made marginal difference (esp considering the price), but once I added the EVO-MS air intake and the AWE full exhaust, it made a significant difference as a package. To be clear, I noticed a difference btwn stock and GIAC ECU right away, just hard to say that the difference was enough to justify the price. I've never tried the intake with no ECU upgrade, so can't compare piece by piece separately and different permutations of 2 of the 3 mods I have. The performace of all 3 as a package most definitely offsets the price though.
My friend has the softtronic ECU flash on his 08 Cayman S and has nothing but praise for it. Especially the relative ease in which you can switch between the flashed program and the "standard" program.
I already had a full AWE exhaust system & an Evo airbox on a 997S. A GIAC reflash added 7 rear wheel horsepower, according to AWE's Mustang dyno.
Softronic is reputed to be good & Evo has come out with new ECU tuning. FVD also has software. Don't be in too much of a hurry to buy, perform your due diligence.
Also, have the reflash done by a qualified shop. There must be plenty near your location. The manufacturers list their approved dealers on their websites.
