USB/Ipod Interface Question
USB/Ipod Interface Question
I ordered the USB/IPOD Interface on my 09 cab. Can I plug a flash drive into the USB with MP3 files on it to play these music files and can I see the names of the MP3 files on the PCM screen ?
Thanks for the help.
Thanks for the help.
Sorry to bring back an old thread, but perhaps someone can comment - what format do I need to put the files on for proper access? I have a Mac but think I can format something in FAT or FAT32. Do I just store the files in a flat layout, or can you do folders? I would experiment, but have not purchased a USB drive yet. TIA!
You can use a folder structure- e.g., folder artist, folder album, list of tracks - or do a flat list of tracks as shown in the picture. I think I had to go to fat32 when I went to a 64gb stick/fd.
Its in the manual somewhere but what I think the general gotchas are:
1) use fat or fat32 (ntfs and other proprietary formats are not supported)
2) use a common encoding like MP3 and not modern esoteric containers or specific lossless codecs.
3) in folders or not, they all play. The PCM finds the files of the types it supports and makes them available. I only play on shuffle and don't really navigate the files on my USB flash drive, so I'm not sure if you get navigation help by using folders.
