this ts an artist impression I suppose but I'd like to see a rear shot of the car as well. So far I think it looks good but 400 hp is not so much evolution from the current 997 I think porsche can do better than that

I seriously hope that does not make it to production, but with the way the panamera turned out, I wouldnt be surprised.

looks like a cross between a panamera, a cayman, and a 911

One of the things I love about the 997 and 997.2 cars is the front end treatment. While decidedly different from the front end of the 993 cars when viewed side-by-side, to my eye the headlight and fender treatments of the 2005-2009 cars seem to draw strongly on the 993's styling when viewed in isolation from its predecessor. The 993 remains my favorite body style overall, encompassing everything I love about a 911; a svelte, minimalist overall form, fluid lines in a delicate size and direct styling lineage to the earliest 60's 911's.

If Porsche goes with a more Carrera GT style treatment to the headlights of the 998 the new car will have a more modern, less classic look about it.

When I first saw the headlight grouping of the 996 I thought it looked so modern, but time has dated it and I can't help but wonder if the same would be true for the Carrera GT style lights; modern and flashy looking at the outset, but quickly dated and lacking in the charm of a more traditional treatment.

Time will tell, but the 997/997.2 seems the perfect modern update to the classic lines of my favorite 911's.

Please say it aint so? The red specimen looks more like a Caymen than a 911 from the front, this would be a step backwards in my opinion.

It's common knowledge that the Porsche engineers aren't big on originality when it comes to body design on their cars (Re. panamera) but why make the 911 worse? the current one is sexy as hell!

the current 911 is lacking in excitement. non-porsche people are kinda "bored" with the ubiquity. although the above rendering is just plain fugly, i do believe there's plenty of room for improvement.

1. the current car looks doughy and somewhat bloated. the front overhang is too big imho. the corvette is actually a shorter car nowadays! i liked the 993 because it was a compact car footprint with a go-get-em front overhang. this current car is too big.

2. also, i dislike the 997 body cutline of the rear bumper. it accentuates the fat-*** rear bumper too much by being diagonal. the 996 had the rear bumper resolved much better

3. the rear fenders are too tall on the 997. i dislike that on the current car, minimum 19" wheels are needed to fill out the opening and provide a lithe appearance. the 996 had a lower height to the rear fender. it looked better imho. notice how the 996 c4s had a perfect rear fender height/width.

4. the 997 front end is a great design and i agree with everybody that it needs no improvement. if porsche replaces the headlights for something more up-to-date (led drl's would certainly do the trick a-la audi r8). also, i'd like to see those headlights a bit more vertical, like the 993.

5. i'd like for the front trunk to unlatch completely when it's opened. or maybe a handle could emerge to assist in opening the lid. i hate having to stick my hand underneath and have to find the nasty little lever.

6. porsche should really make the rear window openable on all hardtop 911. the rear parcel shelf on our cars is actually quite capacious. but putting anything in there is a pita.

7. porshce should make the center console smaller-if not eliminate it completely. i liked how the air-cooled cars had such a tidy and small dashboard with a minimal console to intrude in the taller driver knee room. i've got the gt3 console delete and i absolutely love the extra knee room.
